Hops Pillows 2009

A Limited Edition Art Project by Donna Sharrett in collaboration with SkyDog Farms

Hops, hand embroidered damask linen, silk kimono ties, blue jean back pockets, thread, snaps, netting, 7” x 6” x 1”. Sizes & fabric colors vary. Edition of 20. $250 each.

Hops Pillows 2009 was a component of The Cascade Hops Project by SkyDog Projects created for ecoartspace in New York City. The Cascade Hops Project is a documentation of the rapid late spring/early summer growth of trellised hops grown on SkyDog Farm with the resulting harvest packaged into hops pillows artfully hand crafted by Donna Sharrett. Hops (Humulus lupulus) have been valued medicinally for thousands of years for their sedative and calming effects. Pillows filled with hops are used to help induce sleep.

SkyDog Projects is a vision of Andrea Reynosa and Kevin Vertrees where family, farming, music, visual art and technology intertwine. Donna Sharrett has received several artist’s residencies and grants. Her work has been widely exhibited and reviewed and is held in numerous private and public collections including the Museum of Arts & Design in New York City.
