Projects

Creative ideas, photos collages, improvasatory sculptural and musical expressions; the building of a barn, the planting of a garden, the composting of manure.

In this section you will find glimpses of projects we undertake to make ourselves and the world around us a better places.  Drawing from the Realms, they are the physical manifestation of our ideas.

The Ram King

The Ram King comes out of documenting on the various realms and projects we put on this site.

The animals and plants our land supports have been our actors.  The ever changing of the seasons and weather are the verbs in the stories telling.

Our studies of the land's history; our uncovering new maps and stories about the Upper Delaware River Valley; our activism in issues about the natural gas drilling that's currently threatening our watershed : all these factor into the metaphors through which our creative expressions, desires and associations take form.

The majority of the documentation used in the video was captured during the fall 2009/winter 2010, a time of seasonal transition and the passing away of several animals.  The exploration of death, decay and the fragility of life led to the creation of a myth regarding the valley, a Ram King and the jealousy he feels toward his son, the Prince.

Hops Pillows 2009 was a component of The Cascade Hops Project by SkyDog Projects created for ecoartspace in New York City. The Cascade Hops Project is a documentation of the rapid late spring/early summer growth of trellised hops grown on SkyDog Farm with the resulting harvest packaged into hops pillows artfully hand crafted by Donna Sharrett. Hops (Humulus lupulus) have been valued medicinally for thousands of years for their sedative and calming effects. Pillows filled with hops are used to help induce sleep.

SkyDog Projects is a vision of Andrea Reynosa and Kevin Vertrees where family, farming, music, visual art and technology intertwine. Their Manhattan Bridge Piers Project was featured on numerous national broadcast news programs. This along with their other recent and ongoing projects can be viewed at: www.skydogprojects.com.

Donna Sharrett has received several artist’s residencies and grants. Her work has been widely exhibited and reviewed and is held in numerous private and public collections including the Museum of Arts & Design in New York City. She holds a degree from School of Visual Arts and is represented by Pavel Zoubok Gallery. More information about her work is available at: www.donnasharrett.com.
